From Seafaring to Information Technology

Before my career in ITC, I have sailed international waters as a deckhand on multiple vessels. Ships represent the pinnacle of applied engineering, combining disciplines from hydraylics and automation to communication technologies in demanding maritime conditions. In 2020 my interest in autonomous shipping and nautical information technology led me to shift my career from sea to Information Technology full-time, as I started my studies in Tampere University.

B.Sc. in Information Technology (2024)

Major in Signal Processing and Machine Learning,
Minor in Software Systems

During B.Sc. studies, I spent an exchange semester at Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg in Austria (35 ETCS). The year introduced me to computer vision and neural networks, which became the topic of my awarded B.Sc. thesis, Deep learning with Fourier Transformed Images in 2023.

M.Sc. in Information Technology (2025)

Major in Advanced Robotics,
Minor in Automation Engineering

Curiosity led me to robotics during my graduate studies. I wanted to get involved in research, and became a member of Cognitive Robotics group in the faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. My thesis investigated Pointing Gestures in Human-Robot Collaboration, paving the way towards my interest in multimodal interfaces.
